Nestled at the base of Mummy Mountain, 6721 E Cheney Drive—Double M Estates— is more than just a luxury estate. It stands as a living testament to the visionaries who shaped Paradise Valley and fought to preserve its natural beauty.

In 1975, Foorman Lloyd Mueller, a distinguished Illinois attorney and avid Arizona visitor, chose this serene locale to plant roots after 18 years of admiration. A member of the Paradise Valley Country Club, Mueller’s impact extended far beyond the fairways. Appointed by the mayor of Paradise Valley, Mueller embarked on a mission to research the ownership of undeveloped lands on Mummy Mountain. His tireless efforts, driven by a desire to preserve the area’s natural beauty, culminated in the creation of the Mummy Mountain Preserve—139 acres of protected splendor for generations to enjoy. The Mueller family called Double M Estates home until 1999, cherishing its quiet elegance and proximity to the mountain Mueller worked so diligently to protect. Today the Mummy Mountain Preserve is known as the Paradise Valley Mountain Preserve Trust and includes over 260 acres.

In 2000, the estate began its next chapter under the stewardship of Robert and Suzanne Avery. Renowned for his entrepreneurial spirit, Robert Avery turned a bold hunch into a transformative business venture. In 1967, he founded General Distributing in Salt Lake City, starting with modest beginnings but a relentless commitment to honesty, hard work, and superior service. His achievements as an exclusive distributor for Anheuser-Busch products in Utah defied expectations, earning recognition as one of the nation’s top wholesalers.

Beyond his business triumphs, Avery’s life was a tapestry of courage and dedication. A WWII bombardier navigator, Avery returned home to build a family and a legacy that extended into his later years. With Suzanne, his beloved partner, they transformed Double M Estates into a masterpiece that reflected their passion for history and global exploration. Drawing inspiration from their worldly travels, the Averys incorporated stunning architectural elements, including carved stone fireplaces and pillars, intricate ironwork, and wooden doors and portals from the 1800s. These timeless details imbue the home with a sense of history and artistry, making it a truly unique sanctuary.

Now, the estate stands in its most exquisite form yet. Recent renovations have infused the elegance of today’s most luxurious interiors into its stalwart bones, blending its rich history with modern sophistication. High-end amenities and cutting-edge technology seamlessly coexist with the home’s original character, while premium construction materials ensure both beauty and durability. These thoughtful updates honor the property’s legacy while elevating it for the next generation of discerning homeowners.

Today, Double M Estates remains a testament to the visionaries who called it home. Its walls echo the legacy of preservation, innovation, and resilience. From Mueller’s pioneering environmental efforts to Avery’s transformative entrepreneurial journey and artistic vision to its current state of modern refinement, Double M Estates has always been a home where history was made.

And now, its story awaits a new chapter. How will the next owners of this remarkable property leave their mark on its legacy? The possibilities are as boundless as the desert skies above Paradise Valley.
